Bristol Borough’s got talent!

Bristol Stomp contest

The Dovell’s who recorded the original Bristol Stomp in 1961 are interested in releasing an updated or new version of the song. They would like to have the “New Bristol Stomp” created by a Bristol Borough resident and are open to auditioning all genres. Although the prizes have not yet been solidified, they can range from cash to writers credit, or being a featured artist on the new recording, to a part in their forthcoming movie.

Please record your track ideas using midi, loops or real-time recording. Add your vocals, and then email the mixed mp3 to garymurway@gmail.com

If you don't have access to any recording apparatus, please call Value-Driven Productions (24/7) toll free at 1-866-563-0176 and sing your version of the New Bristol Stomp. You'll have 3 minutes to sing your stomp into the voicemail.

If you choose to, for your protection, you may record your acappella or mixed demo on cassette tape or CD and mail it to yourself (registered mail) Note: When you receive it DO NOT OPEN IT.  The sealed dated envelope is your proof of composer.

If none of the Bristol Borough entries are chosen, the contest will be opened up to Burlington NJ residents, then nationally until a winner is chosen.

Good Luck and maybe we'll see you in the movies.

Calling all Stompers

And the kids in Bristol who were sharp as a pistol are an important part of that rich history.

You created a dance that became a craze and spread around the world.

We want to connect with those of you who were there circa 1961 doing the Bristol stomp.

Would you take a moment to share your memories, and allow those who where not there, to visit through your stories of what it was like to dance to Daddy G?

Who was Daddy G anyway? Was it just a catchy phrase in the lyric of the song? Or was Daddy G a real person?

Why were some of the dances called sock hops?

Who invented the Bristol stomp?

What came first the song or the dance?

If you have any memories, memorabilia or stories about the dances, the DJs and the performers, please take a moment share them.

We would love to post them on this site.

If you live in or around Bristol Borough and would like to show your "Stopmin' Stuff", let us know and we'll send our camera guys out to video you and your friends doing the Bristol Stomp.

Who knows....Your video might be shown on this page to show the rest of the world how it's really done.
