Borough Ordinances

Trash and recycling information

The following legal briefs represent a synopsis of various Borough ordinances. A copy of the full text of each specific ordinance and regulation is available from the Borough Secretary during business hours.

SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL

SNOW AND ICE TO BE REMOVED FROM SIDEWALKS.

The owner of every property in the Borough of Bristol shall remove or cause to be removed all snow and/or ice from a pathway at least 36 inches in width along the entire length of the sidewalk fronting or abutting said premises within 24 hours after the snow has ceased to fall or the ice to form.

No person in removing snow or ice from public sidewalks or private property, shall throw, shovel, push, plow, or otherwise move snow or ice into the public street.

ZONING ORDINANCE

Zoning is basically the regulation of land use and standards for land regulation.
The Zoning Officer interprets zoning. Applications for special exceptions, variances, and conditional matters can be obtained at the Municipal Building. Residents would do well to review all zoning requirements prior to undertaking any projects or expansions which might require zoning approval.

USE AND OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE

The Borough adopted the 2006 Uniform Construction Code and the 2006 UCC Property Maintenance Code. This includes rental properties as well as those sold outright.

DOGS

Borough ordinances prohibit dogs from running without a leash. Dog owners are required to clean up after their dogs. No dogs or other animals are allowed in Borough parks.

RECYCLING

All residents are required to participate in the Borough's Recycling Program.
